One Lifeless Eye is the audio counterpart to the visual art of James McCrea, previously working under the name Narcotic Dreams. The name Narcotic Dreams was dropped in favour of One Lifeless Eye in 2007 when the project became more focused on nightmare visions and cryptic personal references with more emphasis on composition than experimentation. Live performances are automatic, using few pre-concieved musical parts. With each piece of music, whether created spontaneously during a live performance or meticulously arranged over time, there is always distinct imagery driving the formation of the sound.

Less abstract interpretations of the work have been recorded under the name Salivating Lamb and are to be released in the coming year.
